Data Protection Statement

1) Information about the collection of personal data and contact details of the controller

1.1 Thanks for visiting our website. Below, we let you know how your personal data is handled when you use our site. Personal data means any information that can be used to identify you personally.

1.2 The data controller for this website is Liam & Ella. The controller is the natural or legal person who decides, alone or together with others, on the purposes and means of processing personal data (as defined by the EU General Data Protection Regulation — GDPR).

1.3 This website uses SSL or TLS encryption to protect the transmission of personal data and other confidential information (such as orders or enquiries). You can recognise an encrypted connection by the browser address bar starting with "https://" and the padlock icon.

2) Data collected when you visit our website

When you use our site purely for informational purposes (without registering or sending us any information), we only collect the data your browser sends to our server (known as "server log files"). This data is needed to display the site and ensure its stability. The following data is collected:

  • Page visited
  • Date and time of access
  • Amount of data transferred (in bytes)
  • The page you came from (referrer)
  • Browser used
  • Operating system used
  • IP address used (possibly anonymised)

This data is processed based on our legitimate interest in improving the stability and functionality of the site, in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. This data isn't transferred or used for any other purpose, unless there's concrete evidence of unlawful use, in which case the logs may be reviewed after the fact.

3) Cookies

To make our website more user-friendly and to enable certain features, we use cookies (small text files stored on your device). Some cookies are deleted once your session ends (session cookies), while others stay stored so they can recognise your browser on future visits (persistent cookies). These cookies may collect personal data such as your browser, location, or IP address.

Persistent cookies are automatically deleted after a set period, which varies depending on the cookie. Some cookies help simplify the ordering process (for example, by remembering the items in your cart). Where cookies process personal data, this is based on Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR (performance of a contract) or Article 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest in optimal site functionality and a smooth user experience).

We may work with advertising partners who also store cookies on your device when you visit our website (third-party cookies). Where this is the case, we'll let you know in this policy about their use and scope.

You can set your browser to notify you when cookies are being installed, and decide individually whether to accept them. How you do this varies by browser; check your browser's help menu for guidance. Here are some useful links:

  • Firefox
  • Chrome
  • Safari
  • Opera

If you decline cookies, some features of the site may not be available to you.

4) Contact

When you get in touch with us (for example, via a form or email), we collect your personal data. The data collected is set out in the relevant form. We use this data solely to respond to your enquiry and manage the related technical aspects. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in responding to you (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR). If your enquiry relates to entering into a contract, the legal basis will also include Article 6(1)(b). Once your enquiry has been resolved and there are no further legal retention obligations, your data will be deleted.

5) Creating customer accounts and fulfilling contracts

When you provide us with personal data to enter into a contract or create a customer account, we process it under Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR. The required data is indicated on the relevant forms. You can request deletion of your account at any time by writing to the controller's address noted above. Once a contract is complete or an account is deleted, the data will be locked for tax and business reasons and deleted once those retention periods expire, unless you've given consent for further use or the law allows it.

6) Use of data for direct marketing

6.1 Newsletter subscription
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we'll send you offers on a regular basis. We only need your email address; any other details are optional and are used to personalise the message. We use a "double opt-in" method, meaning you'll receive a confirmation email and we'll only start sending you the newsletter once you've clicked the link.

By activating the link, you consent to the processing of your data under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. We record the IP address and time of sign-up to prevent misuse. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the newsletter or by writing to us at info@liamella.com. Once you do, we'll remove your address from our list, unless you consent to another use or the law permits it.

6.2 Sending newsletters to existing customers
If you gave us your email address when making a purchase, we may send you emails about similar products without needing further consent. This is based on our legitimate interest in personalised direct marketing, under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. You can object to this at any time by writing to us.
